iPhone Apps for Website Design

iPhone Apps for Web Design

Having only recently joined the iPhone owners club, naturally I was hot on the heels of any iPhone Apps that could make my life, in the world of website design, that little bit easier. With such a powerful bit of kit at my finger tips, the possibilities of mobile work-flow appear to be endless.

I’m certainly under no illusion that I will soon be able to build websites whilst on the bus, as I’m fully aware that my Mac will always be where the action happens, but any helpful little apps that mean I can perform basic tasks, learn about new technologies or help to keep track my hottest inspirational moments… well, I imagine realistically, it’ll be more for the first two suggestions.

Personally, I am looking for apps that would…

  • Help me to learn
  • Allow me to blog
  • Give me inspiration
  • …perform the odd emergency operation

1. WordPress for the iPhone

I imagine that any blogger that has an iPhone has had a go with this one. Certainly very handy for any emergency blogging, or replying to the thousands of comments that you may receive. Even though wordpress, can be managed through Safari, things are just that little bit easier with the app.

2. HTML 5 Reference

HTML 5 is one of those technologies, where many of us, are more than aware that it is coming, but by no means ready to make the transistion. With this in mind, this nice little reference app, makes for interesting browsing, when you find the time whilst being out and about on your travels.

Price: £0.59

3. FTP On The Go Pro

This impressive little number, is arguably the most useful out of the six apps that I’ve found. If you’re ever caught short, and need to fix an error on a web page whilst you’re out and about, no longer do you have to rush back to your computer, or frantically look for a WiFi connection.

Price: £5.99

4. JQuery Cheatsheet

JQuery is one of my favourite technologies to have recently graced the world of Website Design. With a complete reference to all the selectors, and now even the ability to write and test your code, this app is a must for any budding JQuery maestro .

Price: £0.59

5. CSS 3 Handbook

As with both of the above, once again we have a nice little application to help bring you up to speed with some of the latest technologies on the web today. With the official W3C recommendation for CSS3 edging closer and closer everyday, why not start to make the transistion today.

Price: £1.79

6. Color Splash

Wow. I was so impressed with this app for its visual impact and ease of use. Not only have I managed to improve some of my plain old photos with these quirky styles, but I’ve also found myself inspired by the results on a wider design level. At only £1.19 this one is a bargain!

Price: £1.19
