Fonts Resources for Web Designers

Posted by on Monday, September 7th, 2009 at 8:18 pm.

For Web Designers, utilising and working with Fonts is integral to ensuring a modern, clean and professional looking web design and website overall.

Whether you are working on a website design for a client, or developing a HTML/CSS web design project, fonts are considered throughout.

Across the internet are numerous fantastic resources that can aid web designers in their font usage. Below are our recommended fonts resources and websites.

If your looking to identify a font contained within an image and want to know what it is, WhatTheFont allows you to upload any image that contains text, and then will try to figure out the font being utilised and tell you what it is.

W3C CSS3 Fonts

Until now, Web Designers have struggled to break away from using ‘default’ fonts within their website designs. In the upcoming CSS3 Specification, Web Designers will finally be able to ‘embed’ any font within their design using the ‘@font-face’ selector.

Read more about this on the CSS3 Specification on the W3C website linked above, or alternatively, watch our recent Web Design video blog on CSS3 and all of its features.
