Web design prototype tutorial – Part 2

Posted by on Monday, August 17th, 2009 at 7:14 pm.

In part 2 of our tutorial on making prototype websites, James continues by taking the prepared Photoshop JPEGS into Adobe Fireworks. The tutorial then shows how in a matter of minutes you can slice up your design, create roll overs, drop down menus and export the web-site onto Adobe Dreamweaver.

If you’ve missed Part 1 in Photoshop, you can watch that video here.

Hi Nilesh, Part 3 tomorrow, will explain in more detail how to take the exported files to Dreamweaver, and what to do with them in there.

When you export from Fireworks, Fireworks essentially chops up your JPEGs and arranges them in HTML Tables on a web page. Fireworks also adds in all the Javascript needed for the rollovers.

What we then do in Dreamweaver is to tidy this up, add in the background and upload it to the internet for the client to see.
