This week’s web design video blog starts with a showcase of a website that has copied Creare’s web design. This week’s web design tutorial is ‘How to create a Shimmer or Shine effect in Flash’. James demonstrates how to do this and the supporting files are also available to download below. The video blog concludes with a look at a useful online web design tool called IE Net Renderer.

James: Hi and welcome to our web design video blog, for this week’s tutorial we’ll be showing you how to do the ‘Shimmer’ or ‘Shine’ effect in Flash.
Nick: We came across a bit of news this week, we found a website that is quite interesting, so James is going to show us that now!
James: Err, ‘domain’, quite an interesting website.
Nick: Looks very familiar James.
James: So, this week’s web design video tutorial is how to do the Flash Shimmer/Shine effect.
DEMONSTRATION STARTS
James: For this week’s showcase we are going to look at a website called IE Netrenderer, if you’ve got a website and you want to check that it works on IE6 to IE8, aswell as on the Macintosh, it can be quite tricky to test it. So if you go to http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ it’s essentially by GEOtek, you can enter your web address, again we are using Instinctive Horse Training for our demonstration. You can render a screenshot of the website in IE6, IE7 and IE8. This is a very useful tool for check that your website displays cross-platform.
