Fireworks Pop-up Menu Tutorial

Posted by on Friday, November 20th, 2009 at 12:06 pm.

In this week’s web design video blog, James demonstrates an easy method to create ‘Pop-up’ or ‘Drop-Down’ menus using Adobe’s Fireworks. In the demonstration, James is using the latest CS4 version of Fireworks however this technique is almost exactly the same in the past few versions of Fireworks, including Macromedia Fireworks MX 2004.

For the tutorial James is using a graphics as the base for the navigation, which can be created in Photoshop or directly in Fireworks. Fireworks then takes over with its’ built in Pop-up menu interface, meaning that you don’t have to do or see any HTML, CSS or Javascript coding.

Adobe Firework’s Pop-up menu method is also SEO friendly. The output CSS, HTML and Javascript allows Google and other search engines to crawl the information and follow the links contained in the drop-downs.

If you are new to Fireworks and would like to know a great way to create Prototype Websites from Photoshop, please take a look at our series of video blogs below.
