E-Commerce Web Design in 2008

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Bargain hunters flocked to the 2007 Boxing Day sales on the promise of some of the biggest discounts in a decade, mainly due to this year’s ‘pre-Christmas slump’ in high street shopping across the UK.

One thing that I did notice this year in particular, is that some of the big ecommerce web-sites like play.com and Marks & Spencers, started their Sales a day or two before Christmas day, as the products wouldn’t be dispatched and received until after boxing day.

New trends like this across many of the big online-shops has seen online shopping over the New Year Sales starting to catch high street sale shopping figures.

E-commerce has been dramatically changing the global retail market over the last few years. With shopping online becoming cheaper and more convenient that high street shopping, it is becoming increasing important for UK retailers to embrace e-commerce and to take advantage of what it can offer the retailer, and not just the customer.

Creare can advise, and launch your business into the world of e-commerce shopping. For more information about E-Commerce Web Design, please click here.

Web Optimisation Vs Yell.com

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

One of the most frequent questions that we are asked at Creare is how optimising someone’s web-site, compares to Yell.com at generating traffic to your web-site. Considering that Yell.com can charge thousands to list your business under a single category in a single location, we strongly believe that ‘Search Engine Optimisation’ produces a better return on investment for generating hits to your web-site; and for a broader search too.

Web Optimisation Vs Yell.comHere at Creare, we are currently investing several thousand pounds in various different campaigns on Yell.com. Right, you will see a clipping from our web-site’s analytics. The ratio of all our web-site’s traffic from search engines is shown in blue. The Orange portion shows traffic where people have directly typed in http://www.crearedesign.co.uk .

Finally the green portion from the pie chart shows traffic from referring web-sites. This covers Yell.com and any other links that we have around the internet.

We do not pay for any advertising on Search Engines, all of our rankings are ‘organic’ meaning that our optimised web-site comes up in Google, Yahoo and MSN etc for free because our web-site is optimised for search engines based on our products and services.

For more information about how Creare can help your web-site rank better in search engines, please don’t hesitate to call us today free on 0800 01 999 06.

Does my web design work ?

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Back in 1994, the internet was just starting to emerge. Yahoo had just been launched and web-sites were just simple text based pages of information. Today the internet has changed the way we do business, spawning hundreds of industries and businesses that depend on it. From buying groceries online to securing business deals, the internet is the new marketplace to do business.

For many industries, embracing and utilising the internet, has proved successful, but in order to be successful on the internet, whether you are selling products online or simply generating enquiries for your business, everything revolves around your web-site.

Simply having a web-site on the internet, doesn’t always mean that you have ticked the box. Ask yourself these questions;

  1. Do you receive regular enquiries/business from your web-site?
  2. Does your web-site receive enough traffic, to allow you to generate sales and enquiries?
  3. Have you seen your competitors web-sites? Do they look better than yours?
  4. Is your web-site’s design appropriate and look professional?
  5. Does your web-site appear in Google for the products / services that you sell?

If you have answered no to any of the above questions, then you should ask yourself if your web-site is achieving it’s full potential. As we approach 2008, almost 14 years since the birth of the internet, a web-site should have the following in place, in order to stand a chance at competing in the online marketplace.

  1. Professional and appropriate web design
  2. Web Optimisation, allowing you to appear in Search Engines
  3. Prominent phone numbers / forms / contact methods
  4. Your web-site should provide a quick and efficient but accurate overview of your services.
  5. Up to date information and special offers
